Use the Leave Policies window to define how leave will be accrued for different employee groups. For example, most employees may be assigned to a standard leave policy, while administrative employees may have a different leave policy.
In addition, you must set up a leave policy for employees who aren't eligible for leave since all employee must be assigned to a leave policy in order to avoid errors during payroll processing.

Select Finance from the Module pull-down list on the top of the screen.
Select Leave, then Leave Policies from the HR menu, and that window opens.
Click Add Leave Policy, and the New Leave Policy window opens.
Enter the Name of the leave policy, and click Create. The record is saved, and the Configuration, Change Log, and Documents tabs become visible. Sample
Click on the Configuration tab, and this window opens. For a new leave policy, the current instructional period will already be selected.
If
changing the configuration for an existing policy, continue with step
7.
If configuring a new policy, skip to step 10.
Click Change Configuration, and the Program Configurations window opens.
Select a new Instructional Period.
Click Save, and you're returned to the Program Configurations window. Note: The configuration for the previous period will be copied to the new configuration.
Click the in the Configure column, and the Leave Type Policies editor opens.
Click Add Leave Type, and the Leave Type Policies Editor opens.
Complete the fields as described. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk.
Leave Type: Select from the list of leave types set up in HR > Leave > Leave Types.
Accrual Period: Select from:
Annual — to accrue this leave type annually during the Promote Contracts process.
Pay Period — to accrue this leave type each pay period during the payroll process.
Accrual Units: Enter the amount to be accrued with up to two decimal places.
Accrual Limit: Leave blank if there's no limit.
Carry Forward Limit: Leave blank if there's no limit. If there's no carry forward for this leave type, enter 0.00.
Grace Units: Enter the number of days/hours in the grace period before the employee is docked or leave at 0.00 if there isn't a grace period before docking begins. Note: You can leave this field at 0.00 for leave types that are exempt from docking.
Reduced Units: Enter the number of days/hours during which the employee will be docked at a reduced rate before being docked at the full daily rate; or leave at 0.00 if there isn't a period for a reduced rate. The number of days/hours in the reduced period will begin after the grace period, if there is one. Note: You can leave this field at 0.00 for leave types that are exempt from docking.
Reduced Calc Method: Select from Flat Amount or Percent.
Reduced Dock Rate: Enter either the dollar amount or percentage, based on the selected calculation method.
Click Save, and you're returned to the Leave Type Policies grid.
Repeat steps 11 - 13 until you've finished adding leave types to this leave policy.
Click Return to List.
Repeat steps 3 - 14 to add more leave policies.
