Commodities

Use the Commodities feature to create, update, and delete commodity categories, which are used to group commodity item codes. Commodity categories can then be linked to particular vendors to limit the available number of codes for that vendor.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Commodity categories are NOT available for use in POs and requisitions — and won’t be included in reports — at this time. Those features will be available in a future release. This release will allow you to start setting up your vendors to use commodity categories.

Add commodities

  1. Select Vendors, then Commodities from the Purchasing & AP menu, and the Commodity Categories window opens.

  2. Click Add Commodity Category, and the New Commodity Category window opens.

  3. Enter a brief Code and Description, and click Create. The new category is saved, and the Items tab becomes visible.

  4. Click on the Items tab, and that window opens.

  5. Click Add Item, and the New Item window opens.

  6. Enter a brief Code and Description, and click Save. The item is saved, and you're returned to the Items tab.

  7. Repeat steps 5-6 to add more items. Example
