Handle Payroll Batch Errors

Sample Messages & Status tab

Before drilling down on an individual error message, it's a good idea to review the messages to see if there are patterns. You may find an employee with multiple messages alluding to the same missing account code, as well as other errors. You may be able to fix multiple errors with a single fix.

On the Scheduled Payments tab, locate employees with errors by selecting the With Errors filter.

When you select an employee's record to edit, error messages will be displayed at the top of the Payroll Payment Detail window.

You'll be able to correct some errors in this window, but you'll need to correct some in the employee record in Staff Manager. Clicking Employee to open the employee record in Staff Manager, allowing you to review, make changes if needed, and return to the payroll batch.

Sometimes a user will delete an account code, resulting in an error. If the account code had been used, it will be a soft delete which makes it ineligible for use in the payroll batch. If it was used in the last batch without error, look in General Ledger > Chart of Accounts > Account Codes, and filter for Disabled Records. Either restore it, and recalculate the payroll record. Or if it was disabled for a reason, you'll need to select new account code mask on the position, benefit, etc.

If you correct an error in a place other than the Payment Detail window in the payroll batch, remember to return to the Schedule Payments tab and click the icon to recalculate the payment.
